The second century – Finland’s 101 years of independence. Head-shot images of unknown Finns, photographed in the center of Helsinki in 2018.
My approach in this photographic work has been to create an image surface that is close and far away at the same time, much like security camera type of passing by moment.
I have previously been exploring the concept of war in my photographic work. In my series, the definition of war is to act against individuals or independent nations sovereignty. In my take second Century, Finland’s 101 years of independence I have emphasized Finland’s independence at the time of war against terror.
The photographs are mainly of adults who in distinction to children have acquired knowledge and know-how on the basis of their education as well as professional and family lives. These customs keep life in a place as an independent country called Finland.
